Manhattan Beach....no words needed!

We are here!

We arrived safe and sound last night!  (with a rental car and all!)  We slept great and already had breakfast! 

Now, onto showers and then heading out to tour the Pacific Coast Highway! 

Love to all!  Lucy's doctor's appointment is in the morning!  Can't wait to see the ear!!!

Heading back out...tomorrow!

the quilt

Some friends of mine mentioned that they had a gift for Lucy from their church.   How thoughtful!

So Lucy and I went by and picked it up after we got back in town from California.  Having no idea what the gift might be.....

The gift was this beautiful quilt.  It is the softest, most precious thing I've ever seen!

Can you see all the little knots?  Each knot represents a prayer said for Lucy! 

I have to admit, I got a little teary when I read this.....knowing all the love and prayers that went in to this handmade quilt for my Lucy.  I love knowing that all those prayers are attached to this quilt!

So blessed.....

Lucy loves it so much and points to the little whales!!!  Whales is a word that she can say very plainly!

We would like to thank each an every single person that had a part in making this quilt!  What a heartfelt gift!  I love that so many prayers have been lifted up to heaven on Lucy's behalf by all God's people!!!  Makes my heart smile!

Will it grow?



I've had a few questions regarding Lucy's new ear.....here is one of the most common questions and from what I understand to be the correct response!!!

 

Will her ear grow with her??  No.  The framework of her ear is plastic and therefore will not grow.  On average a 3 year olds ear is 85% as big as it's going to get....will only grow approximately 15% more of their lifetime.  So at the time of surgery they gage what size the ear should be at that particular time and then add 15%......make sense?  Sort of?? 

 

With Lucy having Bilatteral Microtia (no ear on either side) the surgeons didn't have to match another ear....they could make her ear however they wanted.  Precious Dr. Kim allowed them the use her ear as a guide for Lucy's.  Thank you Dr. Kim!  We'll think of you often!!!

A little fyi for Dr. Kim and Dr. Reinisch....the day after surgery we took Lucy to the American Girl Doll store....she received Bitty Baby Twins....a boy and a girl.....now know as "Kim and Jon".  You guys have name-sakes now!!! 

 

 

1 week later....

It's hard to believe it's already been one week since Lucy had her surgery!  It all seems so surreal. 

And that one week later....she sits in her own house playing with her Mickey Mouse....and yelling "woo whoo"!!! 

So grateful to have the first surgery behind us!  We head back out on Tuesday for the ear unveiling on Thursday morning!!!  Please continue to pray for Lucy and her healing!
