I'll be honest. I didn't think I would end up back here again. Fundraising.
And yet, I'm here. Racking my brain for ways to raise BIG money for our girl. Here's what I know so far:
First ear surgery will be approximately $35,000. This will be her left ear. Ear only. No internal ear canal or ear drum. Lucy's facial nerve is greatly exposed and they aren't comfortable with taking a chance of facial paralysis. Fine with me. I'm trying to help her...not create more problems for the precious girl! So, ear only.
We have to have a $10,000 deposit before surgery and not sure how much insurance will cover. This is afterall.....cosmetic. (clears throat) Bless her heart.
Second ear surgery will be what they call CAM...."combined atresia microtia" surgery. They will create an ear drum and ear canal and also the external ear. Lucy will (should) get some natural hearing from that ear! Praise God!
That surgery is done at a different facility...there is an additional surgeon involved who does the internal work. Dr. R does the external ear. This surgery will be approximately $60,000. And not yet sure how the "deposit" will work. Again, waiting to see what insurance will pay on this as well.
We are so excited about what God has in store for our Lucy. She is simply amazing. She is truly a gift from God.
The surgeries will take place in California. We are amazed by the work done by Dr. John Reinisch. We've seen his work up close and personal. Another adoptive family in our church adopted a little boy from China with microtia a few years ago and have walked this path before us. They have been a wealth of help and inspiration!
Needless to say, we are asking for LARGE prayers. This is an "Only God" situation. Only He can pull this off!
With the surgeries and travel costs....we are looking at $100,000.00 plus. (again, don't know exactly what insurance is going to cover....we know some....just how much is unknown.) We know we will be out several, several thousand dollars. With 4 international adoptions in the past few years....funds are few and far between.
If you feel led to donate to Lucy's journey....we would be most grateful. If you have any fundraising ideas, we would love for you to share them with us!
We find ourselves back here. Waiting on God to show us the way. Looking to Him for the answers.
Praying for God's guidance. Asking for prayers for our baby girl. Thank you most sincerely from the bottom of our hearts!
God is good, God is faithful....ALL THE TIME!
